Looking to improve yourself in some way emotionally, mentally or physically but not sure where to start? Changes come in all sizes. Here are 20 ideas to get you started on developing a path suited to you…

  1. Read a self-help book every day. Aim to complete at least one chapter.
  2. Listen to motivational podcasts or audiobooks on your way to work.
  3. Sign up for an online course to adopt a new skill or to expand upon a skillset.
  4. Learn a new language.
  5. Schedule more dates with your significant other or plan more get-togethers with friends.
  6. Call or visit your parents at least once a week.
  7. Spend your lunch hour taking walks in nature. Do it solo.
  8. Commit to meditating for 5-10 minutes every day.
  9. Start a daily journaling practice. You can even track your moods from day to day here.
  10. Take up yoga and practice it a minimum of three days per week.
  11. Make sleep a priority and get 6-8 hours nightly.
  12. Plan your meals so you eat healthier at breakfast, lunch, and dinner and when snacking in between. Sundays are typically great for prepping for the upcoming week.
  13. Buy a motivational water bottle to help you drink enough water each day. It should be at least half your body weight in ounces.
  14. Set a time each day, week or month for some self-reflection.
  15. Make it a goal to reduce your TV, video game or social media time. Turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before heading to bed.
  16. Try something that’s outside of your comfort zone once a week.
  17. Go on a solo trip to a destination that you’ve always wanted to see. Prioritize safety in your planning.
  18. Invest in self-care. It could be scheduling a monthly massage, treating yourself to a mani-pedi or even spending quiet time with a favorite book.
  19. Make to-do lists. If you’re stressed, checking off items can do wonders for calming your nerves.
  20. Vow to be an early riser. You may find you accomplish more and are able to get to bed a more relaxed version of you.
